The Governance and Leadership Institute (GLI) of Xavier University - Ateneo de Cagayan facilitated a workshop on performance management for the legislators and legislative staff of the city government of Butuan, held from November 3 to 5 at the Philtown Hotel in Cagayan de Oro City.

The workshop covered review sessions on the purpose, functions, and mandates of the city council, managing performance, alignment of the offices’ major final output to the overall goals of the local government, assessment using performance management scorecard, and Team Learning Theory.

“We promise results during election time, let us deliver it through effective, efficient, and responsive legislation,” said Butuan City Vice Mayor Joboy Aquino.

Besides GLI director Dr Dixon Yasay as main facilitator, CdeO city government’s performance management officer Oliver Egypto also shared on LGU Cagayan de Oro’s success and challenges in the implementation of legislative measures.

Civil Service Commission’s Strategic Performance Management System (SPMS) highlights the perspective shift from “performance evaluation” to “performance management.” ∎
