Five Computer Science students of Xavier University - Ateneo de Cagayan took home three awards from the 14th Iligan City Computing Fair (ICCF) held from November 23 to 25 at the Mindanao State University - Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT).

Xavier's CS sophomore Marc Reyes was hailed as the champion in the digital arts competition, and CS juniors John Gerald Agbayani and Raphael Erick Marcial also reaped the championship in the college quiz bowl.

Two other CS juniors, Kleb Dale Bayaras and Ivan Ray Altomera, finished third in the open programming competition.

On behalf of the XU College of Computer Studies, faculty member Maria Ramila Jimenez, who served as their coach, commended the students for winning in the different contests at the 14th installment of ICCF.

Bearing the theme, “Innovate: Let’s All Startup!”, the goal of the ICCF was to encourage participants from schools, industries, and government offices in Iligan City as well as the neighboring areas to participate in the events, enrich their experiences, knowledge, skills and views on Information and Communications Technology (ICT).

Organized by the School of Computer Studies of MSU-IIT, in collaboration with ILITE and various ICT-related organizations in Iligan City, the event also served as an opportunity to reach out to prospective clients and strengthen customer-supplier relationships in the ICT field. ∎
