Xavier University - Government and Leadership Institute director Dr Dixon Q Yasay recently served as resource person for the seminar organized by San Miguel Corporation and held at their management training center in Tagaytay City.

Yasay’s workshop session focused on the local government unit as a “learning organization.” Yasay encouraged LGUs to provide space and time for dialogue and conversations to elicit creativity and innovations.

The participants were city administrators, planning officers, and legal officers from Caloocan, Las Piñas, Makati, Malabon, Mandaluyong, Muntinlupa, Pasay, Pasig, San Juan, Taguig, and Valenzuela.

Besides Yasay, other speakers included former Commission on Higher Education commissioner Alex Brillantes on challenges and opportunities of local administration; Association of Political Consultants in Asia lead convenor Malou Tiquia on building smart cities; former Bureau of Internal Revenues commissioner Atty Kim Henares on local economic development; and former House of Representative secretary general Marilyn Yap on public accountability.

The said seminar, themed “Better Governance, Better Cities” formed part of SMC’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives. ∎
