The Center for Integrated Technologies, the technical school of Xavier University - Ateneo de Cagayan, celebrated its 34th foundation anniversary from February 15 to 17 with the theme, “Experience Excellence in Technical Skills Training.”

The celebration kicked off with a thanksgiving mass led by Fr Melchizedek de Lara PSDP. An emblematic “Cutting of Chain” followed the mass and was headed by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Misamis Oriental provincial director Leo V Velez, Xavier Ateneo’s VP for basic education Dr Dulce Dawang, and DepEd city division TVL track-coordinator Juan Mingo.

After the Cutting of Chain, the students, faculty, staff, and guests gathered at the CIT AVR for an opening program.

“XU-CIT has a lot of opportunities waiting. We have been partners for many years and we continue to bring opportunities through our collaborative programs related to technical skills in which very in demand nowadays,” Velez said in his message.

The TESDA director added: “Skills and attitude are very important. Skills can be taught but attitude can’t. Talented persons may easily obtain new skills but it doesn’t mean that they always exert effort in their doings. Persons, who possess less talent but have the disposition to do best at their job, can obtain excellent skills through sheer effort and determination. The difference between the two here is attitude. That is why you are lucky to belong to this community since XU is giving you not just skills but also the best values education. Not all schools here in Cagayan de Oro offer that.”
