Nothing was said more than cheerful uproars as the Xavier University Glee Club was declared champion at the Himig Handog chorale competition (college category) of the Tagum City Musikahan Festival 2017 held on March 1 at the Big 8 Corporate Hotel in Tagum, Davao Oriental.

The winning XU group was directed by conductor Vic Angelo Atilano and their voice coach Ritchie Asibal.

The contest included a default piece and a chosen piece of the group. XUGC performed “The Conversion of Saul” composed by Randall V Stroope and the default contest piece “Paanyaya 3” by Robin Estrada.

Koro Dabawenyo and Himig Consolacion chorale groups finished second and third, respectively.∎
