Xavier University - Ateneo de Cagayan's Governance and Leadership Institute (XU-GLI) facilitated a workshop on barangay DRRM governance for environmental restoration on June 21-22 in Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur.

The event was participated in by municipal and barangay officials of the local government units of Esperanza and Talacogon, both part of the province of Agusan del Sur.

The workshop included updating of what has been achieved by the participating LGUs, sessions on deeper understanding of community risk, priority budgeting, and restoration.

"The workshop allowed the participants to create models for restoring the environment — that kind where we once have rich biodiversity," said Pauline Jaramillo from LGU Esperanza.

The workshop formed part of a project called Proud of My Purok (POMP) initiated by The Red Cross Netherlands, Wetlands International, Care Netherlands, Care Philippines, Assistance and Cooperation for Community Resilience and Development (ACCORD), Philippine Red Cross, and Xavier Science Foundation.∎
