Following the successful “Experience Excellence” Orientation Seminar, commonly known as OrSem, of the Xavier Ateneo Senior High School students, a separate two-day event was held to also welcome the new batch of Grade 11 and Grade 12 parents on June 17 and 24 at the XU Gym.

Through this program, parents got the chance to learn about the school’s policies, procedures, and facilities.

“It is a university that commits to provide excellence in education,” XU SHS principal Dr Rogelio L Gawahan highlighted in his welcome address.

He also expressed three main points in his speech, about how vital “sustained partnership, engagements, and building trust” are to parents as one of the stakeholders in building a university that’s invested in the welfare and success of the students.

The orientation, attended by parents, faculty, staff, and school administrators, also aims to introduce the different XU SHS personnel, academic policies, formation programs, administration updates, code of discipline, and updates from the Parents-Teachers Confederated (PTC).

Different concerns were raised by the parents during the open forum such as the pay date for the tuition, insurance coverage of students, school curfew, entry and exit points in the university campus, the newly-organized SHS extra-curricular activities, and the venue for the upcoming retreat for the Grade 12 students. Their questions were answered right away by the XU SHS administrators.

The second part of the program was the homeroom meeting wherein classroom level PTA officers were elected. It was then followed by the election of Parents-Teacher Confederated officers for the school year 2017-2018.

The elected PTC presidents were Robert Elango for Grade 11 and Francis Damasing for Grade 12.∎
