The Psychological Association of the Philippines (PAP) recently concluded its 54th annual convention, attended by more than 2,500 psychologists, psychometricians, and other related practitioners across the country.
This year, the city of Bacolod hosted the said convention with the theme “Philippine Psychology in Challenging Times” from September 20 to 22.
Select Psychology faculty and students from Xavier Ateneo were among the few chosen researchers to present at the said national convention.

Dr Miriam P Cue, chairperson of the Professional Regulatory Board for Psychology, welcomed the participants, highlighting that the said gathering was a venue for enhancing and enriching knowledge and competencies of psychology professionals, particularly, in building mental health, resilience, and well-being of people and communities through "these troubling times."
She added that the theme was fitting and significant in the midst of what the country is facing. She said that it is important to strive for the common good and the development of a recovery-oriented system of care.
Cue called for everyone’s commitment to meet the challenges in the field of psychology and strive to excel as professionals despite the setbacks.
PAP president Dr Margaret Helen Ubarde-Alvarez invited the members to continue to be intimately involved in the life and mission of the association. She remains confident in the membership and vision of PAP to contribute to the improvement of the psychology profession in the country.
Alvarez also requested its members to take advantage of the convention to build a network, reconnect, listen, absorb, contribute, and belong.∎
