In celebration of the Research and Social Outreach (RSO) Month, the  Kristohanong Katilingban sa Pagpakabana – Social Involvement Office (KKP-SIO)and the Commission on Elections (Comelec) conducted a satellite voters’ registration at the Xavier University  -Peace Park on January 26-27, from 8:30AM to 4:30PM.

The event catered those who have reached the qualified age (18 years old and above) and the required period of residency to be registered as voters in any Philippine poll.

The satellite registration has enlisted 469 newly registered voters while around a hundred people availed other services such as reactivation, corrections, change of status, change of precinct number and transfer of areas.

The organizers said that registration is a crucial part in exercising peoples’ right of suffrage, especially among the youth for they must be “engaged in one of our nation’s biggest events that could affect the lives of millions in the Philippines.”

“The voters’ registration is a step that can lead to an honest and clean election this coming May 2016,” said Maria Farina Roa, KKP-SIO issue advocacy program officer.

“It promotes our right to suffrage in the hopes of voting the right people for each position in the government. The youth plays a vital role in choosing the next set of leaders in this country and city, for they comprise the greatest number of voters in the nation,” she continued.
